(Liberec, own) For visitors to the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Liberec 2009 two central car parks (Park+Ride car parks) will be available. Visitors can leave their cars there and use special shuttle buses (shuttle transport) which will take them to the city centre or to individual sport areas.
Closed-off road I/14 will serve as Car Park P1. The parking area will be divided into well-arranged sectors. Daily capacity of the car park is estimated at 4,000 cars.
Car Park 2 will be situated in the area of Liberec airport (letište) in Liberec – Ostašov, which can hold 4,000 cars too.
Both car parks are situated in such a way as to have the minimum possible impact on traffic in the city. At the same time the two car parks will be easily accessible from both sport areas. Both car parks will be open 24 hours a day during the Championships. The shuttle buses from the car parks to the sport areas begin their service at 7 am every day at 30-minute intervals - or shorter as needed - and they finish the service after the sport areas close.
Car Park P3 (Park+Ride bus park) – reserved for buses/coaches only – will be situated in ČSAD area in České mládeže street (ulice České mládeže). From there shuttle buses at 30-minute intervals – or shorter as needed - will depart for the sport areas and city centre.
Shuttle buses will be used for transport from the city centre too. Bus stop for the shuttle buses to all car parks (Park+Ride car parks) will be at the crossroad of streets Na rybníčku and 1. máje.
For the easiest way to the Ski jump area Jested Tram no. 3 can be used. Tram service will be running at 4 to 8-minute intervals during the Championships.
Shuttle buses from the city centre to the Cross-country ski area Vesec will depart from a stop in front of the Plaudit Restaurant in Milada Horáková Avenue (třída Milady Horakové) next to the Public Transport terminal in Fugnerova street (Fügnerova ulice). The service always begins 2 hours before the start of cross-country races. To reach the Cross-country ski area Vesec it is possible to use public transport lines no. 13, 24 and 26 which will be specially marked; extra buses will be added on these lines.
The Organizing Committee advises visitors to plan sufficient time for their travel within the city (approximately 1 hour).
The public city transport and special shuttle busses will be free (gratis) in Liberec during the Championships.
